What we are looking for:

Bender Companies is looking for a Junior Property Accountant to join our growing accounting team. We
are looking for someone who has at least one year of work experience in accounting or someone out of college
with an accounting degree.

-Knowledge of financial management
-Experience with bank reconciliations and financial review
-Ability to stay organized and handle multiple projects
-Undergraduate degree in Accounting or related field preferred
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
-Experience working with Appfolio or similar property management software is a plus
-Strong communication and problem solving skills

What you will be doing:

As a Junior Property Accountant you will work with the operations team and will have primary responsibility for providing accounting support for our Property Accountant Team.

Core responsibilities include:

-Complete Bank Reconciliations with the direction of your Senior Accountant
-Analyze and identify income statement accounts requiring variance explanations and providing clear, comprehensive explanations for accounting related accounts while assisting property manager and supervisor with other variance explanations as needed.
-Assist property manager in any tenant billing disputes.
-Participation in staff meetings and company special projects as requested.
-Communicate and provide information as needed to third party owners, auditors, lenders, and other team members.
-Support the Bender acquisitions team with due diligence and renovation or project budgeting
-Check mail daily and process accordingly
-Log any rent checks in AppFolio and prepare them for deposit
-Upload any bills in AppFolio and Egnyte (may come via email or physical mail)
-Process all outgoing mail including accounts payable
-Answer incoming calls to our corporate office/accounting team and direct them accordingly
-Make trips to postal service, UPS, or Fedex, or banks as needed
-Assist on any ad-hoc tasks or administrative functions
-Assist with insurance compliance and vendor setup in AppFolio

Where you will work:

This position will require you to be in the office full time, Monday-Friday.
